Our General Dentistry Services Include:
Low-Radiation Digital X-Rays
Odenton Station Dental offers in-office digital x-rays for your convenience. Digital x-rays are computer-generated images that require up to 90% less radiation than with conventional film-type x-rays. Instead of using the traditional silver-oxide x-ray film that must be developed & then fixed in caustic & environmentally damaging solutions, the new system takes pictures via a small electronic sensor & instantaneously transmits a picture of the tooth onto the video monitor in the treatment room. Therefore, we can see your teeth & surrounding structures immediately. Feel free to contact Odenton Station Dental for more details or to schedule an appointment!
Emergency Dental Care
We recognize that dental emergency situations do arise & at Odenton Station Dental we will do our best to respond to your problem promptly. Regardless if it is something as simple as a tooth filling or a complicated procedure requiring a cosmetic dentist, we can provide you with assistance.
Odenton Station Dental offers dentistry for the entire family. We understand that adults & children have different needs & we address them all. Adults want the best technology, the most informed doctors & the highest-quality care, while kids want to be comfortable & respected. That’s why our dentists have extensive experience working with both adults & children. We can make your dental experience more enjoyable for everyone.
Your child’s dental care is very important to their development. We know visiting the dentist for the first time can be scary, so Odenton Station Dental is happy to treat your child while he or she sits on your lap. Our goal is to develop a caring relationship with your child & to encourage proper oral hygiene that will last lifetime.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends an oral health consultation as soon as your child’s first tooth comes in or by their first birthday at the latest. Most children have a full set of baby teeth by age 3 & as many as 1 in 4 children has a cavity by age 4. At this first visit, we’ll check for tooth decay & other dental problems, but we’ll also demonstrate how to clean & care for your child’s teeth & how to deal with other oral issues like teething & thumb sucking.
Call us today to set up your child’s first dental visit.
We understand your concerns regarding the use of mercury fillings. Accordingly, at our office we have elected to only use new advanced fillings made of tooth-colored materials that contain no metals or mercury. It’s just one more way that we show our care for you. Your safety & aesthetics are our primary concerns!
Oral Cancer Screening
Early detection is key in the battle against cancer, & this is no different with oral cancer. Even if you don’t smoke, keep in mind that 25% of oral-cancer diagnoses are for non-smokers. It’s important that every patient receive a simple & pain-free exam from a Odenton Station Dental dentist. Remember, that when caught early, oral cancer has an 80 to 90% survival rate. So don’t put off your examination another minute!
Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a great tool for patients who may be uneasy about their dental procedures. The beauty of laughing gas is that your dentist can constantly adjust your level of sedation during the procedure & once it is shut off, the effects stop almost immediately. A few minutes after the procedure is complete, you’ll be back to normal!
Odenton Station Dental dentists are certified to administer nitrous oxide for nervous patients. Call today to schedule your appointment or to see if you’re a candidate for nitrous oxide sedation!
For patients who are anxious about dental procedures, this may be a good option. Conscious sedation involves oral sedatives (pills) instead of needles & is a great option for patients who have a fear of needles & shots, had bad experiences before, have not been to the dentist in a long time or are just worried about their dental experience. Conscious sedation allows you to receive all of the dental care you need—without the fear! Dr. April Calton, DDS is certified to provide oral sedation. Please call today for more information.
